Maui ~ Part 2
We decided to try something new and bike down a volcano while in Maui. We took a tour bus to the top of Haleakala National Park, a dormant volcano and Maui's highest peak. It was extremely cold on the top of the volcano, but very beautiful. The crater is 7 miles long, 2 miles wide and 21 miles in circumference. Big enough to contain Manhattan!

After some sight seeing at the top of the volcano, we jumped on our mountain bikes and started down the summit. The entire bike ride was about 23 miles, but mostly downhill. There were a lot of twists and turns as we rode our bikes along the 2-lane highway. It was kind of scary, but really fun.

The following day Nick played golf at The Plantation golf course. It's a very famous golf course that overlooks Kapalua Bay. It was very windy, but Nick had a great time.

We didn't make it to a luau while we were in Oahu last year, so we planned to go while in Maui. We went to the Old Lahina Luau and it was really fun. We had a traditional Hawaiian dinner as we watched the Hawaiian dancers. The entertainment was a lot better than the food, but it was a great way to end our trip.

Aloha from Maui: Part 1
Nick and I left the kids at home and took off to Maui. We visited Oahu last year and fell in love with Hawaii, so this year we wanted to explore a new island. The trip was kind of a belated honeymoon, so we spoiled ourselves and booked a villa overlooking the ocean at Kapalua Bay.

Our first night in Maui we went to a restaurant down the "street" for some wine and appetizers. We relaxed on the patio and enjoyed all of the gorgeous views.

The next morning we found a trail that ran along our backyard and up through some cliffs. So, we took a morning walk and went exploring. The volcanic rock kind of made it feel like we were exploring the moon and we of course got caught in a downpour while out on the cliffs.

We wanted to go snorkeling, so went two coves over to Kapalua Bay. The bay was perfect for snorkeling because it wasn't very crowded and had calm winds and waves. We saw some amazing fish and even saw two eels! We spent two full days here and it felt like we were part of a postcard.

Kindergarten Patriotic Perfomance
Every year I coordinate the Kindergarten Patriotic Performance. I filmed my class this year and I wanted to share them with you. This year my class sang "The 4th of July" and then the entire grade level danced to "Firework". If you look closely, you will see me dancing with the kids.

Summertime in San Diego
We've been having beautiful summer weather in San Diego and one of our favorite things to do is taking Kelly to the dog beach in Coronado. He LOVES going to the beach and seeing all of his friends. He likes hanging out with the small dogs, but also holds his own and runs with the big dogs.

Flying down the sand to meet up with some friends
Luna also loves the warm weather. Everyday she hangs out on our balcony and soaks in the sun. She loves when we put ice cubes in her water bowl and can't stay away when the ice cream comes out. Recently she has taken over Kelly's dog crate. Kelly started sleeping on a big boy dog bed, so Luna decided to move in.

Luna's new hangout
Nick & I are doing great. On our days off we like to ride bikes at the beach or relax at the pool. Nick's been enjoying his golf game and I've started practicing yoga again on a regular basis. Only 3 1/2 weeks until school is out for summer break, then we are off to Maui for our honeymoon! All is well with the Carbonne family.
