Happy 2014! A review of 2013

Sorry it's been so long!  2013 came and went without a blog post, so we wanted to catch you up on some of what happened.  Below are some pictures from some of the events that happened in 2013.


In April we went to Kauai with Katie and Paul.  We did all sorts of activities around the island such as kayaking, ziplining, hiking, horseback riding and boogie boarding.

In August, our niece Clemence came from France and stayed with us for a few weeks.   The first day she was here, we drove to Magic Mountain and spent all day and evening riding roller coasters.  We also went to the Del Mar race track, a trampoline park, shopping, the beach, Soak City water park and lots more.  We loved having her with us in San Diego!

In August, Kelly turned 4 years old.  He is turning into a great dog.  He loves the beach and going anywhere in the car. 

In September Nick turned the BIG 40!  We celebrated with dinner at Benihana's in San Diego, then spent the weekend in Palm Desert with our friends.  All weekend we cooked, played tennis, lounged by the pool and the guys golfed.  

In October, Nick traveled to Napa Valley for work.  He spent a week there visiting vineyards and tasting wine.  They had great weather and I was jealous I could not be there.  Maybe a trip in 2014?

Kelly and Luna are great.  Whenever I catch them hanging out together I try to snap a picture.  Luna likes to sleep in Kelly's bed, so we finally gave her one for herself.  She loves her bed, but sometimes I still find her crawling out of Kelly's.

That brings us to 2014!  We hope 2013 was a great year for all of you and that 2014 will be fantastic.  We will do our best to keep the blog more up to date.  Hope all is well!

Last Day of School!

Here are a few pictures from the last day of school this year.  It was Hawaiian day and we made tie-dye t-shirts with the kids.  It was kind of a crazy year, but I made it!

Mammoth

Earlier this month we took a road trip to Mammoth Lakes with our friends Dustin, Wendy & Jeremy.  Kelly & his doggy friend Badu also joined us.  We rented a condo on the mountain and everyone planned on skiing, while I planned on relaxing.  Although it hasn't been a very snowy winter, there was plenty of snow on the ground and mountain.  The ski lodge was a 5 minute walk from our condo, so Kelly and I could walk over to meet up with everyone.  This was Kelly's first time in the snow, so I was very excited to see how he reacted.  He seemed to enjoy it and we got some great pictures.  We had great, sunny weather and it was a really fun weekend!

Las Vegas in January

We went back to Las Vegas in January because Caroline & Olivier were there.  They came over from France for business and we couldn't miss seeing our family.  We spent the weekend with them and had a blast! Hopefully we will see them again soon, either here in the States or maybe in France.

Christmas Time

It's the most wonderful time of the year and we've been very busy enjoying it!  We wanted to share some of the pictures from the past couple of weeks.  Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We went to "December Nights" at Balboa Park.  The park is open at night and there are venders, performers and food.  It was the first time for the both of us.  An estimated 300,000 people attend the holiday event each year and it was very crowded, but a lot of fun.

This year I brought the Holiday Show to my new school.  There were 220 first graders performing, the largest ever.  All of the parents really enjoyed it, as well as the teachers and students.  They were all very grateful for the idea and efforts.  I love organizing and hosting this show and will continue to do as long as they let me!

I've also organized "spirit days" at my new school, on the last day of each month.  December's spirit day was Pajama Day which coordinated with the Holiday Show.  All of the kids, as well as the teachers were dressed in their PJ's.  Above are two of the new teachers I work with, as well as my best friend at work Kristina (Kristina is on the far right.  She also moved schools over the summer and we ended up at the same school.  The best present!).

We went to Las Vegas in December and it was very cold, but so beautiful.  Vegas doesn't hold back on the Christmas decorations and I love it!  This picture was taken at the Wynn Hotel.  It is one of the most beautifully decorated hotels in Las Vegas.  

While in Las Vegas, we visited the Bellagio Hotel and they were also beautifully decorated for Christmas.  There were a lot of people trying to get pictures, but we managed to sneak in front of their Christmas tree for a shot (I got creative with this picture and did a little photoshopping).

It was later than usual, but we finally got our tree last weekend.  Kelly likes to lounge in his Santa suit by the fire, while Luna prefers to hide out under the tree.

I couldn't resist adding this picture of Luna and Kelly.  They have become great friends and I caught them snuggling together a few weeks ago.  It didn't last long, but long enough for me to get a picture.

Halloween 2011

The Carbonnes are getting ready Halloween.   Kelly and Luna have their Charger football player costumes and are looking for some treats!
